Meet our Heart Heroes

Kayla

Jump Fundraiser

“I want to jump for my dad because he had heart disease. I love him so much.” Kayla, 9, wrote these words for her late father, who died suddenly at 36 from a heart attack.

She raised over $7,000 and was the top Jump fundraiser in Canada.

Julian

Pediatric Stroke Survivor

At six months old, doctors discovered Julian had a hole in his heart. He underwent open heart surgery at three years old and later had a pediatric stroke. Julian is now five years old and is still actively recovering.

Julian’s mom, Joyce, says, “It's so important to advocate for pediatric Stroke and spread awareness that strokes happen at any age." She emphasizes, "It can happen to anyone, and knowing the signs is critical.”

Max

FAST Lifesaver

A few days after Max, 8, learned the FAST signs of stroke at a Jump kick-off assembly, his dad had a stroke at home. Thanks to Max’s quick thinking, his dad was taken to the hospital to receive life-saving treatment.

Knowing how to act FAST and get help saved his dad’s life.

Seth

Cardiac Arrest Survivor

When Seth went into cardiac arrest at school, the principal began CPR and then used an AED to restart Seth’s heart. After many weeks in the hospital and a surgery, Seth is doing well.

Seth’s school friends dedicated their 2021 Jump Event to him, raising over $10,000.
